Basically, my life here at the music school, when not filled up with classes, lessons, masterclasses, and ensembles (which take up at least 60% of my day), consists mainly of practicing and homework. Mostly practicing. I'm working up to five hours of practice a day. A lot of people say that four hours of practice a day is all you can absorb, but I'm extremely skeptical of that. As long as you take breaks every hour or two, you can stay fresh for a long time. And I heard a really good musician say that you can't know your full potential until you've practiced seven hours a day on a regular basis - and there's no chance that I'm going to miss out on the chance of living up to my potential. I'm determined to squeeze out every last little scrap of talent I may posess here at music school. I want to be able to compete and say that I did my best, at the very least. I have a long way to go, but I'm not going to stop working for a moment.
Since I have all my general studies completed, next semester will be nothing but music classes for me. My parents let me drop my English Minor, contingent on the fact that I'm planning on going to grad school (of course I want to go to grad school!). I'm so glad.
OMG guess what!! I'm signing up for secondary voice lessons next semester! I'm going to study with an upperclassmen from the best studio in the school. I am sooo excited. I've wanted to take voice lessons since I was like twelve (ever since I started listening to opera). Next year I'm going to join the women's chorus here, and maybe by then I will be good enough to study with a faculty member. Eeee!!
Oh, I'm planning to dress up as a vampire for Halloween...I actually have fangs and everything. XD So maybe I'll put them on my LJ or something. I'll post a link if I do.
